Asia Pacific Food Bank Conference 2023

Registration for the event has closed. For enquiries, please contact hquek@foodbanking.org

The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) is delighted to convene the Asia Pacific Food Bank Conference 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. This event will be the first time since 2019 that food banks from across the region can gather in-person to discuss common themes and challenges facing food banks, and learn from the experience and expertise of peers.

There are now 16 food banks from 12 countries that are GFN members in the region including some who have joined the network since our last gathering. We hope that all these food banks will be represented at the event to facilitate robust conversations, diverse idea sharing, and fostering a greater sense of community amongst food banks throughout Asia Pacific.

In addition to conversational sessions at the event hotel, participants will have the opportunity to visit the local food bank (SOS Thailand) and learn about their programs as part of the main summit agenda.

Dates:

  • Monday 30th October: Introductory Day for new food banks
    • If you need to attend this, it will be stated on your invitation
  • Tuesday 31st October – Thursday 2nd November: Core event
    • This is intended for all invitees
    • The Conference will finish on Thursday evening so we recommend looking for flights home at any time on Friday 3rd November.

Once you have registered, GFN will send you details on how to book accommodation at the hotel.

About The Global FoodBanking Network

The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) supports community-led solutions to alleviate hunger in nearly 50 countries. While millions struggle to access enough safe and nutritious food, nearly a third of all food produced is lost or wasted. We’re changing that. We believe food banks directed by local leaders are key to achieving Zero Hunger and building resilient food systems. For more information, visit our website.

About Scholars of Sustenance Thailand

Scholars of Sustenance Foundation (SOS) is the first food rescue foundation in Thailand and was established in 2016. Our mission is to enhance the food system in the country to minimize needless loss of surplus food and improve food equity by redistributing high quality surplus food from food related businesses such as hotels, grocers, restaurants, and other suppliers to communities in need in Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and other places in the country every day.

To date, Scholars of Sustenance Thailand programs have rescued approximately 6.1 million kgs of surplus food, served 25 million meals to 1,000+ communities, and reduced 15,506 tons of C02 creation if the food were wasted in landfills.
