Melissa Shapiro

Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic

Melissa Shapiro is a Clinical Instructor at the Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic (FLPC). Since joining FLPC in July 2019, Melissa has been responsible for overseeing the clinic’s Food Access and Nutrition Initiative, which features such projects as The Global Food Donation Policy Atlas. Melissa works with community partners, NGOs, and government actors in the U.S. and worldwide to leverage legal and policy solutions to hunger and food insecurity. She has previously worked with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to promote the universal right to adequate food. She received her B.A. from Middlebury College and her J.D. and Masters in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School.
